We raised a total of £372.76 towards the ongoing maintenance of the Windmill which is brilliant. Dereham Town Mayor unveiled our Fields in Trust Plaque and our Chairman, Brian stated ‘ I am very proud that we have protected the land surrounding Dereham Windmill forever – with all the proposals for building more and more houses in Dereham, we now know that this lovely green area will be there for future generations to enjoy.  I thank the Windmill Trustees and Dereham Town Council for their part in us gaining Queen Elizabeth 2 Fields In Trust status.’

The Summer Prize Draw was also held with 1st prize of a Hi Fi System going to Mr Robert Smith.  There is one prize outstanding which the contact number is incorrect….if any of you know a ‘Des’ from Dereham ring 01362 691164 to collect his prize.

Last Saturday, despite a torrential downpour at the start of the Teddy Bear Abseil from the top of Dereham Windmill, large numbers of Teddy Bears were brought along and absailed down the side of the Windmill in aid of Charity.

Becky Jago from Anglia TV opened the proceedings and large numbers members of the community enjoyed watching the Teddys abseil, the Teddy Bear Treasure Hunt and Picnic. Additionally the new Community Hall/Coffee Shop facilities and the side stalls were well suported, with many visitors to the Fred Nicolson Exhibition in the Windmill – overall the day was a great success for all!

A fantastic total of £400 for the Dereham Windmill Charity was raised and Brian Webb, Dereham Windmill Chairman, thanks all who suppported this fun event.
